There aren't a lot of Queens newsies, so there's never been a reason to have a lot of bunks. The unused bunks are pushed against a wall to create space for the boys.

Lying on his stomach, Peanut was arranging all the pencils he could find into a straight line. Every now and then he'd frown in frustration at one of the pencils being in the wrong place, but that was quickly fixed. Today he stayed home, apparently Scout wasn't gonna sell with him today, so he decided that he would stay home and play with Joey the Sock Monkey. It wasn't his fault that he didn't like selling with other kids, it was just he liked Scout more. Not his fault, it was just easier to sell with her.
Getting up, he walked over to the window, holding Joey the Sock Monkey in hand, and looking up at the sky. "It's gonna be cloudy today, Joey. Really cloudy. Not rainy, but cloudy!" Peanut laughed. He liked clouds, he started pointing out clouds to Joey, "That's a spoon, and that's a dog! Oh, and that one over there is a fish! And there's a kite! Wait, that's an actual kite! Oh well, it's a really pretty kite, maybe we can get a kite, Joey! Then we could fly a kite too! But only when it's windy."

Valorie heard someone talking and laughing up in the boy's bunkroom from downstairs. She decided to go up and take a look. She slowly acsended the stairs and realized it was Peanut's voice. He was talking to someone named Joey. She didn't know a Joey, and wondered who he was and what he was doing in the Queens lodging house. She reached the room and lightly tapped on the door. She didn't know Peanut all that well yet. "Peanut? Can i come in?" She asked softly. She pushed the door open a little and looked in. No one else was around; which meant they were all out selling. She looked at Peanut, who was all by himself except for his sockmonkey and it made her somewhat sad to see him all alone. She walked in and knelt down across from Peanut. She fixed her skirt so she wasn't going to tear it when she stood up and looked at him. "Hows come yer here all by yerself, hun?"

Looking up, Peanut smiled, "Hi Vixen! I was just up here cause everybody's out sellin'," he beamed, "I sold fifteen papers today." Moving so he was sitting on the window ledge, he kicked his legs a little, tilting his head curiously at Vixen, "How many did you sell today Vixen? I bet it was a lot, cause you and all the older kids sell a lot. OH! Have you met Joey yet? He's my sock monkey," He held Joey out, "He's my good luck charm. I dont know what I'd do without him, after all, he is a sock monkey."
Peanut looked around the room, swinging his legs a little, listening to Vixen. He was listening, but also looking around. Not his fault though. After all, he was seven years old, you couldn't blame the kid. After all, he was seven years old. The fact that he could even pay attention was a gift. Taking Joey, he hugged the sock monkey to his chest, ignoring the bandages on his arms, and the oversized sleeves. Clothes were clothes, he wasn't going to complain about them anytime soon, after all, he liked his clothes, very comfy.

Valorie smiled as she listened to Peanut. He was a good kid. "I didn't realleh sell a whole lot, 'cause i went ta 'Hattan ta talk ta Medda about singin', and ya know how those 'Hattan Newsies are bout other people sellin' there. I was wonderin' if ya'd want ta go out with meh lateh and help meh finish meh papes." She smiled at Peanut. She laughed softly as she was introduced to Joey. "Ah, the mysterious Joey. How are ya?" She asked the sock monkey, still smiling.
She looked at Peanut's arms when he hugged Joey. There were bandages there under his oversized shirt sleeves. "Peanut?" She asked reaching a hand toward his arm. "What are these bandages fer?" She asked, pulling up one of his shirt sleeves slightly. It bothered Vixen a little, not knowing if the bandages were because Peanut got hurt. And if they were, how had he gotten hurt? She hated the idea of little Peanut getting into a fight of any kind. She looked back up at the little boy's face. His sweet eyes made him look so innocent. The idea of him getting hurt any way made her sick.

"Sure! I can help you sell papes! It'd be great practice!" he replied, smiling, "Joey says he's fine, and that your really pretty!" Peanut was happy Joey liked Vixen, after all, he got to help her sell papers! "It's gonna be really cloudy today, oh? my bandages? Scout says that cause I itch and scratch my arms all the time, I have to wear them so that way I dont do anymore itchin' and scratchin'," he nodded his head. Not his fault his arms were always itchy. Besides, he didn't mind them none, it made him special.
That, and Joey thought they were cool. So he was fine. Peanut didn't even care. Sometimes he didn't even notice them. Thankfully, he could still eat peanut butter, which was perfectly fine. He loved peanut butter, main reason for his name. That, and he was pretty short. Looking outside, he spotted the kite again, "Vixen! Vixen! Can we get a kite! I've always wanted one cause they can fly and flying seems amazing and I really really want one I promise I'll share!" If he couldnt get a kite, he would make one, that was an option.

Vixen smiled when Peanut said he'd sell with her. "Well thank you Joey." She said to the monkey, playing along. She looked out the window at the flying kite. "Sure Peanut. If we can find a kite, we'll getcha one." She said laughing. "C'mon." She said standing up, fixing her skirt. She picked the papers up off of the bed and looked back at Peanut. "Is Joey comin' too?" She reached her hand out for Peanut's and walked over to the door and opened it.
She heard someone coming up the stairs and looked over her shoulder. She smiled and said hi, but she couldn't see them. Who ever it was, hung back in the shadows for a few minutes. Vixen became immediately suspicious but then Peanut came over and smiled, he obviously knew the person. But, Vixen's gaurd never went down. It never had before and it probably won't in situations like this.
