Like Brooklyn, Queens has access to the roof. Except there are no birds up here, only the Queens newsies trying to think.

Standing on the roof of the Queens Lodging house, Doll looked around, waiting for Scout to come up here. She had to hide a couple of times from the other Queens newsies that came up there, but other than that everything was ok. Spot wanted to know if Queens was still neutral, so it was her job to find out. She could listen in on the Queens newsies but... she was feeling generous. Besides the Queens newsies were on pretty good terms with her.
Although she said nothing, she heard everything. The sound of people below calmed her. People wondered how the birds survived the silence when really they thrived off the sound around them. She could pick up conversations below. This is what Doll thrived for, even though she'd rather brave the silence than listen to conversations. But of course what Spot wanted was what Spot would get, no matter what.
It was a good thing Doll like Spot and Queens otherwise she might of not of come here.

Scout sighed in frustration as she rubbed her temples. She loved her kids she really did and they usually almost never get on her nerves but today was different. "Alright that's enough!" She snapped sending a glare across the room that was so cold the mighty Spot Conlon might have shut up, maybe. Looking at them all, she placed her hands on her hips and set her jaw firmly she was setting her foot down once and for all."Now all of youse pipe down. There's no way we are gettin' involved in this fight, we are staying neutral and that is final! Discussion over."
Turning on her heels she went to her room shutting the door firmly behind her, her kids knew that when the door is closed she didn't want to talk or she was done talking. Grabbing her cigarettes and matches, she went across the room and climbed out the window and up to the roof. Maybe here she could get the piece and quiet she needed. Her head was killing her, it was like there was little guys inside stabbing at her brain with ice picks.
Slipping a cigarette free of its carton she held it between her lips as she tried to light a match. "Damn wind." She muttered as she finally got one lit and cupped her hand around it as she lit her cancer stick. Stacking the flame out she flicked it away from her, if only she could get rid of her problems that easy. Just flick them away and everything would be fine. Taking in a deep breath she walked over towards the edge and looked over Queens, her Queens. "If this head ache doesn't go away soon I'm goin' ta murder someone." Scout was grumpy.

"If this head ache doesn't go away soon I'm goin' ta murder someone."
"Better not be the boid that's in charge of watching over youh borough," Doll said, walking over to stand next to Scout, "Especially the boid who knows everythin', if ye know what I mean." Ignoring the stench of the cigarette nad the smoke, she double checked to make sure none of the Queens newsies was watching. "Spot want's ta know if you'se still neutral, after all, this is warfare we's talking 'bout." This war was probably the worst. Newsies used to be united, but now what had become of it?
'Fighting,' she thought starkily, 'Fighting. Little children fighting in the streets. What else could happen to make it worse?' Doll looked around the bird way, so she could focus on listening to Scout; reflections. They were everywhere, so it wasn't hard to look at them through the corner of her eye. No one was watching, thank god. "Besides," Doll added, "That Bronx leadah's off her rockah, not choosin' sides and all."
Well, that's what most birds to her knowledge fought. Queenie was smart, but crazy. She'd have to choose soon, but it was really making Spot mad that Bronx wasn't on his side because he wanted the chess board. Doll would have to see it later, to tell Spot.

"Better not be the boid that's in charge of watching over youh borough,"... ""Especially the boid who knows everythin', if ye know what I mean."
Scout jumped and turned quickly, she didn't expect anyone to be up here since all of her newsies where either in the lodge, out selling, or joking around somewhere. "Doll, good ta see ya again." She said taking a drag off the cigarette more to calm her nerves now then before.
"Spot want's ta know if you'se still neutral, after all, this is warfare we's talking 'bout."..."Besides, That Bronx leadah's off her rockah, not choosin' sides and all."
The Queens leader nodded her head and flicked the ashes off her cigarette. "Still neutral and that ain't about ta change unless we get dragged in it some how.. Youse know how Ise hate ta fight unless Ise has ta." Turning she looked out over the city again and then back over towards Doll. "How are things in Brooklyn? Spot loose his sanity yet? And don't worry so much about Queenie.. she'll choose sides eventually youse just gotta give her somethin worth fighting for."

"Doll, good ta see ya again."
"Good to see ye too," she replied, looking out at Queens. It was a different view from Brooklyn, a bit nice, but still different. It was a bit nice, to see something that was different from Brooklyn. Sure she loved it with all with all her heart, but Queens was somethin' else. It was a place where Doll could go to be around people who weren't always expecting a report from her.
"Still neutral and that ain't about ta change unless we get dragged in it some how.. Youse know how Ise hate ta fight unless Ise has ta."
"Ise know," she replied, looking over at Scout, "But Spot gets what Spot wants, ye know that. He wants information either Ise or one of the other boids has to find it, and bring it back. It's a job." Maybe it was a job, but Doll would of done it anyway job or not. Spot was her friend, and she'd always be the one who made sure information was accurate, since, after all, she was the chief bird.
"And don't worry so much about Queenie.. she'll choose sides eventually youse just gotta give her somethin worth fighting for."
"It ain't Queenie we'se worried about. It's that chess board, she'll only choose da winnin' side. Harlem's growin'. They got that one travelin' newsie, Pointah, on their side now. We'se need as many as we'se can on our side. Besides, she don't know how much Brooklyn means to some of us." The Brooklynites might be tough, but they did care about their home. It was theres, something that could be theres without having to truly own it.
Nobody could take Brooklyn from them.
No one could take Brooklyn from the King.

"Good to see ye too,"..."Ise know, But Spot gets what Spot wants, ye know that. He wants information either Ise or one of the other boids has to find it, and bring it back. It's a job."
Scout nodded her head, "Yeah I know that, how is his majesty?" Looking down at her cigarette she made a face and tossed it to the roof floor before stomping it out. She wasn't in a smoking mood anymore. "Tell him I gotta talk ta him sometime soon, there's some stuff I think we should go over about the war. Neutral or not I wanna know whats goin' on."
"It ain't Queenie we'se worried about. It's that chess board, she'll only choose da winnin' side. Harlem's growin'. They got that one travelin' newsie, Pointah, on their side now. We'se need as many as we'se can on our side. Besides, she don't know how much Brooklyn means to some of us."
Knitting her brows together she looked at Doll, "Pointah? That no good scab I'll soak him." One thing Scout hated more then fights it was traitors, and Pointer was a traitor. He's jumped boroughs so much she's surprised that not every borough wanted him dead. Looking out over Queens again she tried to calm suddenly wishing she hadn't stomped out her cigarette but she didn't want to waste another one. Cigarettes costed money that she didn't have. Looking back at Doll she sighed. "But youse know how much Brooklyn means ta ya, and thats the important thing, it gives ya the strength ya need ta fight. But youse can go back and tell Spot that if we get dragged into this fight, which Ise hope we don't, we'll be on your side."
Scout nodded her head confidently, a lot of the Queens newsies had friends over in Brooklyn and she and Spot had known each other for a while now.. since she first became a newsie.

"Yeah I know that, how is his majesty?"
"Foine, ye could say. All he evah wants to know anymore is what Ise got to report, or what the othahs gotta report. He's taken this war very seriously." Anyone could tell. Spot was killer when it came to warfare, and when he was on a warpath no one got in his way.
"Tell him I gotta talk ta him sometime soon, there's some stuff I think we should go over about the war. Neutral or not I wanna know whats goin' on."
"I'll tell him. Won't be 'appy bout it but I'll tell," Doll, besides Bear, told Spot what he didn't want to hear. Not her fault he had horrible timing for that.
"Pointah? That no good scab I'll soak him."..."But youse know how much Brooklyn means ta ya, and thats the important thing, it gives ya the strength ya need ta fight. But youse can go back and tell Spot that if we get dragged into this fight, which Ise hope we don't, we'll be on your side."
"Ise know, and thanks. Besides, Ise dont know what I'd do without Brooklyn. It's always been me haven, cause Ise got people Ise care for there, and dead family there." Queens would always side with Brooklyn, since Spot and Scout were friends. Thats why she trusted Scout, "Scout..." she said, staring out at Queens, "What's gonna happen to youse, me and Spot aftah we get to old to keep carryin' the bannah?"

"Foine, ye could say. All he evah wants to know anymore is what Ise got to report, or what the othahs gotta report. He's taken this war very seriously."
Scout smirked a bit. "Thats good.. if he didn't it seriously Ise would be worried something was wrong with him." Everyone pretty much new how seriously Spot to fights and this war was no different. There was no way Spot would just lay still and play dead.
"I'll tell him. Won't be 'appy bout it but I'll tell,"
"Thanks, I know he won't like it but tell him that I said ta suck it up and get his butt over here." Putting her hands in her pockets she laughed a bit. Spot was stubborn, but Scout was sure she beat him in stubbornness at times.
"Ise know, and thanks. Besides, Ise dont know what I'd do without Brooklyn. It's always been me haven, cause Ise got people Ise care for there, and dead family there."..."Scout..."..."What's gonna happen to youse, me and Spot aftah we get to old to keep carryin' the bannah?"
Scout just nodded her head, she knew all out what happened to Soldier, Doll's brother, so she knew that Doll was very close to Brooklyn. The Queens leader turned her head and looked out over the city the same way the Brooklyn bird was. When Doll asked that question Scout blinked, she hadn't thought about that. "I don't know," She said honestly. She was 16 she knew she couldn't say a newsie forever. "But when da time comes I'se sure we'll figure it out."

"Thats good.. if he didn't it seriously Ise would be worried something was wrong with him."
She smirked, "Yeah, we woulda smacked sense inta 'im before he got all neutral on us." As much as neutrality was safe, the Brooklyn newsies wouldn't last without a good fight.
"Thanks, I know he won't like it but tell him that I said ta suck it up and get his butt over here."
"Can do Scout, it might be a while though, Spot's moah stubborn than me, so it'll take a while," she shook her head, chuckling a little, "All of the othah boids are stubborn, so we'll get 'im here, one way or the othah. Ise aint afraid to drag 'im here for ya." Doll, with maybe some help from Bear and Jax, could literally drag him here. Though they might have to knock him out first.
"I don't know,"...."But when da time comes I'se sure we'll figure it out."
"Good," she replied, "Cause Ise don't gotta dream 'bout Santa Fe like Cowboy." Who didn't know about his dream? Cowboy gloated about it all the time, but Doll and the other birds had to put up with it. But what did they dream? Most of them would still work for or with Spot, since most of them would be lost without him. They'd be clueless pigeons. "Ya know what I think 'bout this war?" she looked over at Scout, "It's like a test. We'se gotta pass it to win. Except this time it's at Brooklyn's level. And honestly Ise don't know how much longah some of us'll last," she said the last part with a bit of worry, "Brooklyn's tough, but we got midgets too."

"Yeah, we woulda smacked sense inta 'im before he got all neutral on us."
"Bein' neutral isn't bad.. it's just not Spot." Scout said looking over at Doll, but she knew that fights where important to the Brooklynites. Scratching the back of her neck she shoved her hands into her pockets.
"Can do Scout, it might be a while though, Spot's moah stubborn than me, so it'll take a while,"..."All of the othah boids are stubborn, so we'll get 'im here, one way or the othah. Ise aint afraid to drag 'im here for ya."
The Queens newsie just laughed nodding her head, she knew the the birds would force Spot over here. That was the thing about newsies most of them where pretty stubborn and won't stop till that got what they wanted. "Don't rough him up ta bad."
"Good,"..."Cause Ise don't gotta dream 'bout Santa Fe like Cowboy."..."Ya know what I think 'bout this war?"..."It's like a test. We'se gotta pass it to win. Except this time it's at Brooklyn's level. And honestly Ise don't know how much longah some of us'll last,"..."Brooklyn's tough, but we got midgets too."
"Don't worry so much about da future, da present is more important." Scout said never taking her gaze away from her city. She nodded the whole time as Doll talked. "Knowin' all of ya, youse'll last a long time. It ain't you Brooklyn kids ta give up that easily. Don't let them beat ya. Ya gotta show that Brooklyn has what it takes."
(OOC: sorry its short kinda brain dead atm)

"Don't rough him up ta bad."
She smirked, "Ise wont Ise wont, maybe a shinah at most but I wont rough him up to much." Doll was probably the only one not afraid to get all up in Spot's face, but hey! She was practically second in command!
Don't worry so much about da future, da present is more important." "Knowin' all of ya, youse'll last a long time. It ain't you Brooklyn kids ta give up that easily. Don't let them beat ya. Ya gotta show that Brooklyn has what it takes."
"Yeah, true." Doll was to lazy to fight that knowledge. After all it was true. Brooklyn had what it takes, and much, much more.
((OOC: It's ok lol. me too))

"Ise wont Ise wont, maybe a shinah at most but I wont rough him up to much."
Starts laughing, "Ise would love ta see Spot tryin' ta explain way one'a his birds socked him a good one." Looks down at the roof as she kicked a pebble that one of her kids probably left up here. Watching it bounce away she looked up again and pushed the blond hair that fell over her shoulder behind her.
"Yeah, true."
Nodding her head once Scout looked up at Doll. "I'se better get back inside before my kids come lookin' fer me, knowin' a few of them they probably would." And by that she meant some of the younger ones. Sighing she held out her hand for Doll. "I'll see ya later, remember ta tell Conlon that I need ta speak with him." Giving the girl a smile she started to walk away. Stopping a moment she looked back over at Doll. "And remember no one can take Brooklyn unless youse let them."
