Tristan Parker
Mouse
Aged 14 Manhattan Newsie
Tristan was born in and raised in Manhattan New York. He was born on January 5th to Henry and Margaret Parker. He was the youngest of a pair of fraternal twins. His brother was named Kieran. Tristan was first called Mouse by his mother, who thought it funny that a small child could make so much noise. But he has grown larger and quieter. He first became a newsie when his mother fell ill and his father could not pay her medical bills. Mouse was eight years old. Kieran complained about having to work, but Tristan gladly left school to work. He loves selling papers and wants to work in the newspaper industry forever. He wants to own his own newspaper some day, and talks about it constantly. While he does not technically live at the Manhattan Lodging House, he is a great fan of Jack Kelly and often stays the night and the weekends, his parents do not worry. He also stays over to escape his mother's illness.
Mouse is a very quiet boy who does not say much, and when he does it is deep and well thought out. He is shy and very hestitant to show his emotions. At fourteen, Mouse is smart, but not a genius. He knows facts about the world for that is his passion besides newspapers. He either wants to run a newspaper or travel the world as a sailor. He has trouble talking to new people and especially girls his age. He is a sweet boy, but can get up to the age old tricks of dipping girl's pigtails into ink bottles and the like. He is quick to anger and has a ferious, if illogical, temper. He is embarrassed easily and dislikes being teased, along with being picked on. He finds his parents embarrassing, his brother annoying and only likes one girl at a time. He is quite steadfast and does not flit from idea to idea, instead looking (perhaps too long) before he leaps. All in all, he is quiet, thoughtful, sweet, patient, and very, very careful. He is always polite to his customers, trying to ensure he gets a tip. While not selfish, he is not generous either.
Mouse is of average height and weight and is a little pudgy, for he is accustomed to three good meals a day (no matter what happens, his father makes sure his boys have enough to eat). He wears knee shorts, like all young boys do, his knees are fairly scraped up, his hair is usually plastered to his head by sweat or visline, so it will stay down and ruly, but when his mother forgets or the concotion dries, his hair sticks up everywear. He usually wears a white, high collared shirt with a little tie and a vest, with a jacket thrown over it for special occasions. He wears socks to his knees (they fall down quite a bit) and shoes that have been polished so hard they are wearing through. On his head it a newsboy cap in grey. He wears a messanger bag of rough material and carries newspapers in it, along with some tied to a string and under his arm (he goes everywhere prepared). He has a special pocket just for money, and keeps change handy for his customers.
He likes newspapers, sailing, the world, reading newspapers, printing newspapers, writing articles, reading about the world, candy, sweets, money, and newsboy caps.
He dislikes being teased, being picked on, being made fun of, being ignored, being passed over, girls laughing at him, confessing to girls, not selling his papers.
His family is his mother Margaret, his father Henry, his older twin brother Kieran (who does not work as a newsie anymore), and his orphaned cousin Sophie (she lives with them and is twelve).
