NAME;; William Quincy Baker NICKNAME;; Will, Pie Guy, Pie Maker AGE;; TWENTY-NINE TITLE;; Baker, lives in Manhattan
PERSONALITY;; William was always sort of a shy, self-protecting boy. He has a tendency to be awkward in situations that make him reveal himself too much. Will is also uncomfortable when people try changing his long set-in-stone beliefs and ways. He prefers to keep to himself, especially when making pies. The only time he speaks freely is in the company of his closer friends and in front of the newsies, specifically the ones from the Bronx and Manhattan, whom he has a soft spot for.
Around ladies in his age range, William is still as bashful as a schoolboy. He attempts to be romantic, but the attempts tend to fall flat because of either poor timing, other suitors, or his own nature. He's had one or two lady friends, and he's come close to proposing more than once, but father's aren't exactly thrilled to think of their little girls marrying barely-making-it pie makers. He can be a brilliant friend if you allow him to, he's got a heart made of gold. (Well, not 24 karat, but it's still gold.)
HISTORY;;
William Quincy Baker was born in Concord, Massachusetts to Quincy John Baker, who was ironically a true baker in town. His mother made pies for the bakery and his father did mostly everything else. They had two older daughters, Rebecca and Lida, who were versed well in the ways of homemaking by the time Will was old enough to start learning how to bake. Rebecca and Lida doted on their little brother, finding him in serious need of such behavior. Soon, however, he grew tired of being doted upon and started fending more for himself, if only by becoming more cautious.
The boy known as Willie Baker over time grew up to be the well-known William Baker, pie maker. After turning nineteen, William moved out of Concord and took to Manhattan, initially as a cook for Tibby's. There he became more acquainted with the newsie population. After his twenty-first birthday, Will bought a small shop for himself with a great deal of money loaned from his parents. His shop? A pie shop, of course. Named the Pie Pantry, or just The Pie Place, depending on who you talk to. (Same call it Pietro's. There are many things that have been used or are being used.)
He now spends his days backing pie, selling pie, and giving discounts to newsies who may stop by. One day he hopes to get a bigger pie shop and find a nice girl to settle down with and continue the family business.
