Flick's tall for her age; standing at 5'8. However, it doesn't make her look much older, as her face and body still look like that of a fourteen year old. She's lithe and agile, but looks more on the skinny side. Her hair is ratty and thin, staying simply at an odd dish-watery blonde color. She doesn't bother cut it, so its long and falls to the middle of her back when its down, which it never is. Flick keeps her hair tied up in a ponytail, so it stays out of her face. She's on the move- so she can't have her hair in her face as a distraction.
Clothing wise, Flick will wear whatever she can get her hands on. Her suitcase of belongings has quite an odd collection of clothes. Mismatched knit sweaters, mens trousers, woman's shirts and skirts, suspenders; whatever she can get. Most of the time, she'll wear an over-sized mismatched, patchy sweater knit out of thick yarn (one that she made herself) plain trousers, whatever shirt she can snag, and a pair of worn-out oxford style shoes.P E R S O N A L I T Y
A listener and watcher at heart, Flick isn't one to always try and get her two cents into a conversation. She'd much rather just watch something go on, but not interfere. Butting her head into things that aren't her business is something that Flick would never do. Not to say that she's obedient and classy, cause she's not, but she's not a nosy girl.
Flick's not really obnoxious, nor is she stubborn. In fact, she's a very flexible girl. Open-minded, too. The reason being so is because she was on the run so often; you can't always have a roof over your head, and compromise is the name of the game. She's used to not getting everything she wants; in fact, she's come to expect not getting the things she wants.
Neither a glass half-full or a glass half-empty girl, Flick just looks at things the way she sees them, and that changes alot. If a situation is looking for the worst, she'll expect the worst. If its opening an eye to a brighter side, she'll look to that brighter side. She's a realistic thinker, and doesn't kid herself. Another thing that goes in hand with her realistic thinking is her ability to reason. She has developed survival skills that aid her greatly; and has great deductive reasoning skills. Carefully thinking over her decisions before she puts them into action, Flick won't be the one to decide something hastily just because.
Flick's an intelligent girl, and a skillful one. She's picked up little things from living in every place she can. She's a quick learner, and holds onto the skills she has gained for a lifetime- a good memory goes in hand with her intelligence.
However, Flick isn't the most approachable girl, and is a loner with no liking for people. Not stubborn, but alot of the time she just doesn't know how to talk to people. She doesn't act shy, and doesn't lack in self esteem- she just has no clue what to say. Never has she had to really converse with people before. At times, she can come off as uninterested and bored with whoever she's talking to, but she really isn't.
Flick's not a caring girl or a loving one- at times, she can even be a little cold-shouldered. Sometimes, she only looks out for herself, as thats all she's really needed to do.H I S T O R Y
Born on a ranch in California, Flick had an average life, for awhile. She'd assist her family on the farm, and they were seemingly...normal. However, the family's problems seemed to stem from Flick's father; Richard. He was a violent man, one who had issues with managing his anger and controlling his temper. Flick's mother was not stupid- she moved Flick, her older brother Arthur, her younger sister Rachel, and herself out of the house and away from their father, away from the ranch but still in California.
For awhile, life was a bit tough. Money was short, and work got hard. However, Flick, Arthur and Rachel never complained. They had grown accustomed to hard work, and besides; they were happy. As Flick and Arthur grew older, Arthur moved away, leaving Flick with her sister and mother. That was fine with her. But, Flick needed out. One day, it just came very suddenly to her- she couldn't keep living how she was, feeling as if she would probably follow in her mother's footsteps.
So, ten year-old Flick packed up a suitcase, filling it with the cash she'd earned, whatever clothes she got her hands on, and a map, and began her journey east.
After hopping on coal trains, railroads and walking afoot over the years, now twelve year old Flick had been on the road for two years, and had been almost everywhere- little dots and notes on her map showed her where she had been. In the middle of her twelfth year, she stayed in Chicago for about three months- becoming a Newsie from Chicago. The life of a Newsie didn't exactly appeal to her- Newsies seemed stationed where they were, loyal to their homes. Flick didn't really like that. So, she packed up her bags again and left, only after her three measly months in Chicago.
Back on the move, she hopped from place to place, until she was exactly thirteen and a half on December 15th. She situated herself in West Virginia, meeting some other runaways and other kids who lived a difficult life. Flick never thought of her life as difficult, though. She knew it wasn't the life of a hoity-toity, but she liked living the way she did. It was just...different. She just liked it.
When Flick turned 14, after constantly moving around for about six months, she found herself in the famous New York City. For her first week in the city, she roamed from borough to borough (not daring to visit Harlem, however, as she had heard about it before) and found herself in Brooklyn, becoming a newsie. Now, a newsie for only about 3-4 weeks, she's exploring this career option, but questions how long it will last.
