Colonel strutted down the streets of Brooklyn as if he owned them, the boy from Harlem had never cared much for rules. He knew that if the Brooky's found him here there would be trouble but he didn't care, that was just what he was looking for. The boy smirked a bit as he pushed a younger kid out of his way. "Watch it shrimp." He said as he continued to move down the crowded street. He laughed as he looked over his shoulder at the boy to see that the kid was bleeding a little. But Colonel didn't care, it was practically in his blood to hurt people.
Bringing his harsh eyes back to view the street in front of him, his smirk seemed to grow when he saw another newsie, and he knew that if he messed with her it would cause all sorts of problems. Coming up behind her he grabbed her waist and pulled her back towards him and spoke in her ear. "Well looky what Ise found, a lost little Dolly." He laughed a bit his hold on her tightening. "Don't ya know it ain't safe fer little Doll's ta be out all alone?"

Doll walked along the streets, towards the lodging house. She was tired, and just wanted to be at the place she called home, after being away from it for long. Generally she probably would of wanted to go to the docks, but was also a bit hungover from going to O'Brady's the other night. What could she say? The place was the Brooks version of Tibby's, only more violent. And it had pool tables. Pool was fun, really, really fun. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't even hear the Harlem newsie come up behind her, until it was too late.
"Well looky what Ise found, a lost little Dolly."
Doll immediately tensed up and started squirming. He was from Harlem, she knew that for sure, and wasn't liking the close contact at all. Narrowing her eyes and squirming, trying to get his arms away from her, she said with menace, "Don't call me Dolly." She was sure she recognized him, Captain or something. And he definitely wasn't a Harlem she wanted to mess with. He was literally a bad guy, and wished he wasn't here, not where she was safe. She guessed no where was safe anymore.
"Don't ya know it ain't safe fer little Doll's ta be out all alone?"
Ok, now she was paranoid. She couldn't really move, the guy was too strong, and she shivered, not because it was cold, but she couldn't even think about what went on in his sick head. "Don't you know it ain't safe to try and hurt goils who grew up in Brooklyn?" It was a horrible comeback, but when one is put in a situation that isn't good, you dont really get a choice on good comebacks.

"Don't call me Dolly."
"Why not its ya name ain't it?" Laughs a little when she goes tense and then leans his head back so he wouldn't get hit when she starts struggling, his hold on her never loosening. "Come on sweet face, why do ya hate me so much?" Makes his grip tighter becoming tired of her fighting.
"Don't you know it ain't safe to try and hurt goils who grew up in Brooklyn?"
Snorts and rolls his eyes, his arrogance getting to his head. "Yer little threats don't scare me Dolly." Looks around the street as if searching for anymore Brooklyn kids and then looks back down at the girl in his hands. "What are ya goin' ta do goily? Nag me ta death?" Laughs at his own joke, that's all girls did anyway, nag nag nag.

"Why not its ya name ain't it? Come on sweet face, why do ya hate me so much?"
Doll started squriming more. She definitely wasn't happy. More over she was a bit scared. She didn't like him, at all. "Maybe I hate you so much because you'se a scab who can rot in a hole for all I care." His grip was strong, which, at the moment, wasn't good for her. She was short, and if she wasn't being held in a strong grip, she would of been using her height to her advantage. But no, she had to be stuck in a grip.
"Yer little threats don't scare me Dolly. What are ya goin' ta do goily? Nag me ta death?"
"I'se dont have to nag to hurt you," she said, trying to wiggle her arms out of the grip. She wasn't in a position to kick him, heck she couldn't do anything at all, really. Doll was mentally cursing to herself. After all, if she had been listening she would of heard him and would of gotten away fast enough. She looked around, it seemed like none of the other Brooklyn newsies were here, and thats what scared her most.
Where were they? Was this guy going to take her back to Harlem?

"Maybe I hate you so much because you'se a scab who can rot in a hole for all I care."
"Aww come on Dolly, ya don't mean that now do ya?" He said with a laugh as he held onto the struggling girl. "I'm a nice guy, why can't we'se just get along?" The boy was enjoying this, maybe a little to much.
"I'se dont have to nag to hurt you,"
"Oh youse got me scared ta death," He said his voice in a fake scared tone mocking her, but Colonel's smug expression got lost for a second when he heard the cracking of someones knuckles in his ear, he hated that, growling he turned to the side to look at the person who had done the deed and smirked his lost smugness coming back with a vengeance. "We'll looky here Dolly, it's old Conlon. Heard youse where gimpin around." He said with a chuckle.
"You know i have been having one hell of a day, and you just made it worse kid."
"Oh look at me I'm shakin in me boots." He brought one hand away from Dolls waist and wrapped his arm round her with his other not letting her go, he knew that this would only provoke Spot more and make him angrier. But Spot was no match for him, at least thats what he thought, his broken leg would cause problems.
"Now let her go, and I'll only soak ya."
"Nah, I kinda like her, I think I'll keep her." He said with a smirk as he pulled her closer to him.

"Aww come on Dolly, ya don't mean that now do ya? I'm a nice guy, why can't we'se just get along?"
"Oh I do mean it. I mean every single word I say when I say your getting on my nerves at the moment." That was an understatement, this guy was was past her comfort zone by at least a mile.
"Oh youse got me scared ta death,".... "We'll looky here Dolly, it's old Conlon. Heard youse where gimpin around."
"You know i have been having one hell of a day, and you just made it worse kid."
Doll looked over at Spot, and shivered when Colonel wrapped his arm around her. She didn't like him at all. When she heard what Colonel said next, her eyes widened, and she struggled as much as she could to get away from him. She looked over at Spot, her eyes almost begging him to help her. She didn't want to be with him at all. Doll couldn't even think of how that would end. "How many times do I have to tell you not to call me Dolly?" she said with as much menace as she could towards Colonel.
Doll just wished the war was over, that way she wouldn't have to worry anymore. But it seemed to follow her everywhere now.

"Oh I do mean it. I mean every single word I say when I say your getting on my nerves at the moment."
Colonel laughed and shook his head. "Oh come on Dolly you know Ise don't mean anythin' by it. I'm just tryin' ta have a little fun." The boy smirked at her he truly didn't care if he was making her uncomfortable. He was having fun, that's the reason he came here today, to have fun and mess with people. And if he got to mess with Conlon's girl then that's just one more thing to make his day better.
"How many times do I have to tell you not to call me Dolly?"
"Doll is not something to keep or own."
"At least once more Dolly." He said laughing again as he looked over at Spot. His smirk slowly faded as he placed the cane between them trying to pry Doll from his grasp. Colonel growled and glared at Spot, he was ruining his fun. He tried to tighten his grip of Doll but a swift punch to the face shocked him making him let go as he stumbled to the side, he almost missed Spots leg coming out to hit him but he grabbed it and threw a punch of his own at Spot. His cold glare hardened as he stared at Spot with a look of such hatred. He came for trouble and he had found it. The game is on.

When Colonel let go of her, she saw what Spot was trying to tell her. Nodding her her head, she ran, She ran fast, her feet pounding hard into the ground. Doll didn't look back, she felt like if she did she would regret it. Shutting her eyes tightly she slowed down, and stopped, opening her eyes. It felt like the world was revolving slowly, and for some reason she couldn't help but feel like she had to go back. and help Spot. It was the stubbornness that was her. She couldn't help the fact.
Sighing, she turned around started running back, but was held back by a hand. "Dont go back Doll," she recognized it as the voice of one of the other brooks. About to go tell him to go leave her alone, and start walking back, he stepped in front of her and said, "Spot dont want you to get hurt, so you wont get hurt none. We made a promise to him. Would you rather be locked up again?" she nodded her head no, and sighed. He was right. Doll hated being wrong, but she was just trying to make it through life.
But in came Spot, and he made it harder.
She loved him, but she couldn't help wanting to help him. It was in her nature, but it was also her worst burden. Doll would do anything for Spot, and she closed her eyes, the newsie had let go of her and was walking back, and she could feel a tear slip down her cheek. It was starting to rain, so she didn't wipe it away. Remembering the story her father told her, about the sky and land and rain, she didn't bother, and now knew what it was like to be in love with someone who seemed unattainable. While she indefinitely knew her feelings for Spot, she bet he didn't know his feelings about her.
