Name: Johanna Ashilinn Johnson
Nickname: Doll
Age: 16
Physical Description:
There are many ways to describe how Doll Johnson looks, because she honestly, is short, and scraggily. And definitely not the type of thin girls want to be. Due to the living of a Brooklyn newsie, she doesn't weigh much, most of her money goes to staying in the lodge and whatever else she could need. Her hair isn't perfect, it's been cut with knifes plentiful, so it's a bit hard for her to ever have hair that is all around the same length, because getting a proffessional to cut it costs a lot of money. Her eyes seem hollow, which adds to a doll-like appearance. Their dark brown, and seem to be vacant at times, but otherwise hold plenty of emotion, when you can see it. All in all: she's just one of those scraggily looking kids you see on the street.
Her most notable features tend to be her face, which looks gaunt, and a doll like appearance. Her hair is a dark chocolate color, her brown eyes an almost similiar color, only lighter, and a bit greyish. They aren't lively, they're actually a bit dull, but otherwise are warm to friends. If you're not a friend, and she sees you as a threat, then dont expect them to be looking too kindly towards you. Doll is very short, roughly standing at five foot one. Depending on what she's doing, her clothes range from anything that doesnt count as a dress or skirt. Most of the time she just borrows other people's clothes, since she doesn't want to buy any of her own. She doesnt even own a dress.
History:
Doll wasn't an only child. She had a brother. A twin brother at that. Her mother had been on a vacation or something when she had met their father, so Doll, along with her twin brother Soldier, never found out where they were born. They stayed with their dad, shockingly, their mother was a socialite who didn't want to be known for her bastard children, so the twins were raised by their dad, a sailor. He sailed on a cargo ship, and was always going around to different countries. Before his kids could walk, they could swim. He wanted them to be just as aquainted with the water as the land. Of course there were times when he couldn't take them onto the ship, and with that, he'd leave them at the Brooklyn lodging house.
This would go on for some time, from the age of six, to nine. Sometimes they'd sell papers, sometimes they'd be out at sea with their dad. That is, until the storm hit. A hurricane out at sea when Doll and Soldier were nine hit, and their father got thrown overboard. They found out the hard way, when they had waited, and waited, for what was probably all the night and most of the morning, until one of the older newsies had to drag them practically to the lodge. They would stay near eachother, Soldier doing the talking, and Doll doing the watching. He was the talker, while she was the silent one. The one who would listen. They had a few friends, but Soldier being the more social, he had more of them.
Except for after they turned twelve. They had been walking, and someone had picked a fight with them. What the both of them hadn't known was that he was carrying a blade. He knifed Soldier, and ran away. Soldier couldn't have been saved. Doll was hurt by this, it hurt to be without a twin. So, one day, she just stopped moving. For a while, she'd just not move. Still, like a little doll. That was how she got her name. After a while, Spot came to power, and she became his second in command, and head of the birds. She had had training, and was the best of the best. Everything Spot wanted to know, she'd tell him.
Personality:
If your looking for a sympathetic girl who loves to talk and can dance beautifully, your looking in the wrong direction. First off, Doll doesnt care if your not one of her birds, or her friend. Dont go to her for sympathy. Second, she isnt a talker, she's more of the, 'I'm gonna just listen and remember this as evidence against you' kind of person. Everything she hears, sees, she remembers. It's her job. And she cant dance. Period. Sure, she can jump from beam to beam and not break a sweat, but dancing, it's torture for her. That, and she's sarcastic, and defensive. You offend her, she'll get up in your face and defend herself. She's dyslexic, and doesnt like people thinking she's stupid because of it. So, she keeps it secret. If anyone in her life means the world to her, it's Spot.
One of the better traits she has is loyalty. As long as you dont betray her, that is. Spot is also the one person she will always stay loyal to, no matter what. She loves him, and will always be loyal. Any information that comes her way, goes directly to him. In otherwords, if your with Doll, watch what you say around her.
