name:
Amy Laura Hamilton
age:
Seventeen, almost eighteen.
physical description
Amy is a petite young lady, she stands at 5'3", and is very slender. She has long strawberry blonde hair, that can usually be seen curly and bright green eyes that seem to sparkle when she smiles. She does have her ears pierced, something that's not too common with young women her age.
Amy wears nothing but dresses, skirts and blouses. She can usually be seen wearing her green dress, since green is her favorite color. Her outfits are nothing like how they used to be, they're very plain instead of her old fancy dresses. She does have one nice dress, what she wore when she came to New York. She wears a gold chain around her neck with a heart on it, something Daniel gave her.
history:
I dreamed a dream in time gone by, when hope was high and life worth living.
Amy Hamilton was born on November 27th, 1881 to wealthy store owners Vincent and Claire Hamilton. She was the fourth, and final child for the couple, who were already parents to Adam, Allison, and Avery.
I dreamed that love would never die, I dreamed that God would be forgiving.
Vincent owned the town's general store in Dawt, Wisconsin, and Claire was one of the best seamstresses around. Everyone in the town knew the family, and they were very well respected and loved.
Then I was young and unafraid, and dreams were made, and used, and wasted. There was no ransom to be paid, no song unsung, no wine untasted.
Childhood for Amy couldn't have gotten any better, her childhood days were filled with carefree fun and excitement. She had a wonderful family, enjoyed going to school, and was a very ambitious little girl. Every other day it seemed like her dreams changed. One day she wanted to be a seamstress like her mother, then a singer, then she wanted to open up her own restaurant. The possibilities were endless. She had a huge imagination, and often got on her sibling's nerves with her constant talk of dreams, and stories she would make up. Amy had her parents wrapped around her finger, since she was the youngest of the family.
But the tigers come at night, with their voices soft as thunder, as they tear your hope apart. As they turn your dreams to shame.
When Amy was sixteen, a young man moved into the small town. His name was Daniel Hudson. He moved from California to Dawt to help Vincent with his store. He was like Vincent's apprentice, watching him, observing what he did so that one day he too could own a store. Daniel lived with the Hamiltons in their attic, to the three older Hamilton children he became a brother figure to them. To Amy, it was something more.
He slept a summer by my side, he filled my days with endless wonder.
Daniel and Amy hit it off right away, he was very charismatic, and enjoyed telling stories of her travels to her. She longed for the freedom he had, to have the life experience he had. She lived with her family in the same town all her life. He had been traveling the country for three years, since he was fifteen. He helped open her eyes to the world he saw. A word that wasn't as bright, a world where you didn't always get what you wanted, a world that was the complete opposite from hers. It didn't take long before Amy felt herself falling for him. Daniel's feelings for her were mutual, and the two created their own little world filled with love. The Hamiltons didn't have a clue as to what was going on.
A year went by. Daniel and Amy were still madly in love, and no one knew about their secret love. Amy snuck into the attic every night, and woke up before anyone else to return to her room so no one knew she had been gone. She was the only child living at home, the others were all married and had their own families.
Soon, Daniel became restless of the small town. He wanted to go to the big city. New York. Amy, who would follow him to the ends of the Earth, wanted to go with him. One night, they left for New York City. Amy left only a note to tell her parents she was gone.
He took my childhood in his stride, but he was gone when autumn came.
New York was a huge change for Amy. It took her a while to get used to the hustle and bustle of the city. Daniel thrived on it, he quickly found work as a blacksmith's assistant. Amy, who had never worked a day in her life, had trouble finding a job. She was no longer wealthy, and had to work instead of having her parents buy everything for her. Her new life was difficult, but she was okay with it as long as she had Daniel.
Her life became more difficult after that, as she learned she was with child. At first, she was overjoyed. She wanted to be a mother when she was a little girl. Having a family of her own had always been one of her dreams. Daniel seemed thrilled with the news, or so she thought. One morning she rolled over in bed to discover that he wasn't there. He didn't even leave a note, or anything. He just left.
And still I dream he'll come to me. That we would live the years together. But there are dreams that cannot be. And there are storms we cannot weather.
Amy was heartbroken. She didn't want to live without him, she didn't want to raise a child on her own. For the first time in her life, she truly felt alone. Just to support herself, she took up jobs wherever she could find them. She was a waitress for a while, then worked in a bakery, then in a factory. She took any job she could find.
I had a dream my life would be so different from this hell I'm living.
A few months later she gave birth to a daughter. She didn't give the child a name, and only demanded that they take the baby away from her. The midwife said something about taking the baby to an orphanage, Amy simply nodded her agreement. She couldn't believe where she had ended up. Less than a year ago, she was the daughter of the wealthiest man in town. She could have anything she wanted, and she threw that all away to be with a man who left her with an illegitimate child. She wanted to turn her life around, and thought at the time, giving up her baby would make everything better.
So different now from what it seemed.
It didn't. She was now more miserable than ever, her daughter would grow up without parents, without anyone to love her. That thought alone would bring Amy to tears. Her biggest regret was giving up her daughter, if she could, she would go back in time and change her decision. Her daughter was the only thing she had to remember Daniel by. Not a day goes by when she doesn't miss both of them.
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed.
Life continues on for Amy. She currently doesn't work anywhere. She lives in an abandoned building in Brooklyn, wandering around looking for work. Everyday she wishes she could return to her life in Dawt, but remains in New York, struggling to make a life for herself.
personality:
Currently, Amy is just a shadow of what she used to be. She barely gets through the days, is often seen staring off into space, usually thinking about what could have been, and is very quiet. Before, she was outspoken, vibrant, charming, flirty, and sweeter than pie.
Meeting Daniel, and having a baby changed her. She's trying to find her old self, but often gets lost in the newer version of her. She's full of regret, fear, doubt, empty dreams and impossible wishes.
