Les banged his wood store against the fence as he walked along the fence running alongside the Horace Greeley statue. He wondered what Cowboy was doing. Davey was off somewhere, and he was getting quite bored being around Racetrack and the older boys. Looking up, he squinted, looking around for maybe Boots or Snipeshooter. Davey said that he shouldn't tell their parents about being friends with Boots, apparently it had something to do with his skin tone. Les didn't really see anything different about Boots that oughta set him apart from everyone. Apparently it was because of skintone.
If that was the reason why, that was a bit stupid. Les didn't care if Boots was purple, he was still his friend. Walking over to one of the other newsboys, he asked, "Hey, wanna sword fight?" It was an older newsie, and he declined. Sighing, he walked over to the edge of the fence and sat, looking down at his feet and fiddling with his toy sword. He was bored, lest to say. Where was Davey? Or Cowboy? Maybe they were off having an adventure in Brooklyn. He'd seen Spot before, but never met the infamous king.
Maybe Race would take him to meet Spot. That'd be a great adventure. Besides, he wanted to know Boots could have spent a month there in one night! He just had to know how! A familiar shadow came into view, and Les grinned. He didn't have to look up to see who it was walking up to him. Jumping down from sitting on the fence, he rushed over, hugging the person tightly. "Hey Cowboy! I'se was lookin' for you and Davey! We're'd ya go!?" He said excitedly, looking up at Jack Kelly, his long time Idol.
